MossOff FAQ

Why is MossOff safer to use than other chemical moss control products?

Other moss products on the market work by chemically attacking the cell structure in order to kill the moss. These products can be used on hard surfaces but must be away from plants and grass as they can cause scorching. They also pose a safety risk to people and animals and are very toxic to aquatic life. They require the use of protective clothing during application and it is necessary to keep people and pets away from the treated area for a while.

How does MossOff outperform other chemical products?

MossOff prevents moss without posing a risk to people, pets, plants and pond life. Other products act by chemically destroying the moss and as a result pose a hazard to people, pets and pond life and cannot be used near grass or plants as they cause scorching.

Is MossOff truly safe around kids, pets, plants and pond life?

MossOff is made of natural ingredients such as natural oils and starch. That makes it completely safe to use anywhere. Consider eye protection as MossOff may cause irritation, just like soap can.

Is MossOff a non-chemical?

Yes. MossOff is made from natural ingredients derived from crops such as natural oils and starch. MossOff does not chemically destroy the moss but operates by forming a physical barrier preventing moss  absorbing the moisture and nutrients from the air causing it to die.

In which seasons can MossOff be used?

Whenever you like – MossOff works all year round.

What is the difference between MossOff Multi Surface and MossOff Lawn Care?

While both formulas are essentially the same MossOff Lawn Care is formulated to be tackier so that it will stick to moss in grass and not be absorbed into the soil. MossOff Multi Surface is formulated to spread out and form a thin even coating on the hard surfaces. MossOff Lawn Care can be used on hard surfaces and MossOff Multi Surface will work on lawns but just not as efficiently.

How long do the effects of MossOff last?

Depending on the type of surface wood, stone, terracotta etc, the texture of the surface rough, smooth, porous and the orientation, horizontal, vertical, the effects MossOff can last from many months up to a year and more.

How long does it take for MossOff to act?

Be patient, it takes slightly longer to work than harsh chemicals but it’s kinder to the environment and gives natural long term protection. Hard surfaces will begin to look cleaner in a matter of weeks and even cleaner with time. Moss in lawns will turn brown and die in a matter of days.

Where can I use MossOff?

Use the unbeatable green power of MossOff Multi Surface wherever you see moss – on patios, driveways, wooden decks, garden furniture, fencing, walls, roofs, BBQ covers, awnings, astroturf,, etc. And for moss in Lawns use MossOff Lawn Care.

Yes.

When MossOff dries, is it affected by rainfall?

No. Once MossOff had dried, it forms an invisible micro-coating that is durable and not affected by rainfall and continues acting preventing moss growth for a long time.

What precautions do I take when using MossOff?

None needed, but consider eye protection as MossOff may cause irritation, just like soap can.

Is there anywhere I can’t use MossOff?

MossOff works on all surfaces, but if the surface being treated is porous and open textured, e.g. concrete blocks or porous pavers, use a stronger concentration of MossOff (1:1) and wet the surface well to ensure it penetrates and covers all surfaces, both hidden and visible. Very porous surfaces may require a second application.

What is the best way to apply MossOff?

MossOff can be sprayed, brushed or poured on but we recommend using a sprayer for the best results. Wet the affected area well, saturating the moss. Remember to rinse the sprayer and nozzle when finished so it is ready for future use.

Is there any scrubbing or preparation needed when using MossOff?

No. Just apply and leave the unbeatable green power of MossOff to do it’s work.

What concentration of MossOff do I use?

Treating hard surfaces: To treat heavy moss growth use a strong concentration of 1 parts water to 1 part MossOff. For wood surfaces and preventative treatment us up to 4 parts water to 1 part MossOff . 1 litre of diluted MossOff will cover up to 7m2. In general, a stronger concentration means it less likely you will need a second application.

Treating lawns: If the lawn has light moss throughout use 5 parts water to 1 part MossOff and give the lawn a general spray. In areas of heavier moss use a stronger concentration of 3 parts water to 1 part MossOff and treat the infected areas. 1 litre of diluted MossOff will cover up to 7m2.

What should I keep in mind when applying MossOff?

1. It is VERY IMPORTANT to apply on a rain-free day, as it must dry completely to be effective. If it rains, you should reapply later.

2. Before application, or if MossOff has been sitting a while, shake or mix well. MossOff can be sprayed, brushed or poured on but we recommend using a sprayer for the best results. Wet the affected area well, saturating the moss. Remember to rinse the sprayer and nozzle when finished so it is ready for future use.

What is MossOff made from and why does it work so well?

MossOff is made from natural ingredients, including natural oils and starch. When MossOff is sprayed on moss  and allowed to dry completely it forms an invisible, biodegradable micro-coating that prevents moss from absorbing moisture and nutrients from the air causing it to die. It’s a bit like putting a plastic bag around the moss to cut off its life support.
