Plastic Free Future

Plastic Free Future

Tru Eco Refill Stations are the first step in reducing plastic pollution! Our goal is to reduce single-use plastic from our planet and to be the leader in the development of circular economy products.

A circular economy aims to reduce waste – it is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing, and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible. The traditional model is based on a take-make-consume-throw away pattern.

The environment is at the heart of everything we make, from plant-based moss killers to biodegradable golf divots and paper lunch bags. Our mission is to create products that become part of the ‘circular economy’ like our newest Tru Eco range of environmentally friendly household cleaners and laundry detergents made from 100% recycled bottles that are recyclable, refillable, and reusable.

Our aim is to make refilling a mainstream convenient option for shoppers. To do this we need stores to offer customers circular economy options. The Tru Eco range is now available in reuzi @ Joyce’s Supermarket Knocknacarra, SuperValu Greystones, and SuperValu Bantry and we plan to roll out to many more stores soon. Our bespoke, Irish-made Tru Eco refill stations are also available in health stores and eco shops nationwide. In 2002 the Irish Government introduced an environmental levy on plastic bags at points of sale in order to reduce their consumption and the adverse effects it had on Ireland’s landscape. Before the introduction of the plastic bag levy, 95% of shoppers took shopping home in plastic bags. Within a few months of the introduction of the levy, most shoppers abandoned plastic in favour of tougher, reusable bags. Read all about it on RTE  ‘Levy on Plastic Bags’

We see our refill solution like the plastic bag levy – you buy our Tru Eco product once and then you return to refill your empty bottle in-store at a cheaper cost. This not only saves consumers money, but it reduces plastic waste and supports small Irish businesses. We work with many independent Irish eco shops around the country to offer our Tru Eco products and refill stations – a truly circular economy product.
